THE SMALL ENTERPRISES AND HANDICRAFT DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (SEHDA)


The Small Enterprises and Handicraft Development Authority (SEHDA) provides support to potential and existing small entrepreneurs with a view to enable them start new enterprises or to improve their existing businesses.


Core Objectives

  • Promote and sustain development of small enterprises;
  • Act as a regulatory body for registration of small enterprises;
  • Enhance their productivity and competitiveness through research, training and other measures;
  • Encourage clustering and linkages with other enterprises;
  • Promote the marketing and sale of products and services of small enterprises;

  • Business Counselling and Facilitation (provision of professional advice and support to both potential and existing entrepreneurs).
  • Skills Development (mainly courses in Handicraft) conducted on a regional basis by local specialists and foreign experts.
  • Marketing advice and support (fairs, professional advice/information).
  • Entrepreneurship Development Programme.
  • Provision of information to start-ups and existing enterprises on design, raw materials, technology and small business management.
  • Sales Outlets for handicraft products.
  • Documentation and Information services.
  • Assistance on business planning for loans with DBM/MPCB and other banks.
  • Registration of SMEs.
  • Freight-Rebate of 50% for enterprises registered in Rodrigues.
  • Business Incubators.
